HVR - exceptional high densities are now cost-effective

Obtaining high density PM components has, until the advent of HVR, been cost prohibitive for many application. The idea of using complicated compaction and sintering processes using conventional compaction presses caused many component manufacturers to avoid some PM component markets.

Today those markets are open for renewed competition because of Hydropulsor's cost-effective HVR press systems. Now densities as high as 7.7 g/cc can be obtained with a simple retrofit of a Hydropulsor HVR press to a conventional PM compaction line.

The process can begin with compacted and pre-sintered components with densities as low as low as 6.8 g/cc. After the initial compaction, the components are pre-sintered to remove an lubrication, impacted on an HVR press and given a final sinter. The following illustration demonstrates that concept.
